Last night Adam Lambert was on fire on American Idol. The theme for the Top 8 show was, ‘The Year They Were Born’. The contestants had to choose a song that was released the year they were born. Adam Lambert was born on January 29, 1980 and he decided to sing, ‘Mad World’ by Tears for Fears. It was an outstanding performance, and the song choice was perfect. This song allowed him to show-off his incredible vocal range.

It was an outstanding performance which earned him a standing ovation by Simon Cowell. Very few contestants have ever given a performance which caused Simon to give them a standing ovation. In fact all the judges gave Adam a standing ovation. Well done Adam!
Judges comments:
Adam was the last contestant to perform, and they were running out of time so only Simon Cowell gave any comments.
“Adam, the bad news is we are running out of time. The good news is I’m the only one who’s going to be talking, and I think words are unnecessary, but I want to give you a standing ovation.”
Adam Lambert is without question safe from elimination tonight. He was amazing last night, and it is safe to say that he stole the show.

Kara DioGuardi said, “I Gotta say, I don’t stand up a lot, but I have to stand up for that. I’ve got six words for you, “one of the best performances of the night” (that’s eight Kara). You showed artistry on that stage. Awesome!”
Paul Abdul said, “Adam, what I love so much about this season is that someone like you comes along, that is completely in his own league, and you have that gutted instinct to have an element of surprise. By the way I did take a good look at your face, and I love the clean look. No nail polish tonight. The hair. Handsome, very handsome and classy! You know it’s amazing to me how there’s an element of surprise, but it’s just an extension of who you are as an artist. That’s what makes it so exciting, and you are exciting! You are it!”
Randy Jackson said, “You know what I’m so happy about is from day one when I saw you, I was like this guy has the range, he can do anything. Tonight you showed that you are not just some kind of Indie, cool Indie rocker or whatever. You can pull it down, you can straighten it up, you got the suit on and you sang such tender moments, still using your falsetto, and everything that’s in your arsenal. Unbelievably hot! The bomb tonight!”
