Kara Elizabeth DioGuardi was born on December 9, 1970 in New Rochelle, New York. Her mother Carol Asselta passed away in 1997 after a 7-year battle with ovarian cancer. Her father was a former Republican Rep. Joseph J. DioGuardi.
Kara DioGuardi went to Duke University where she earned a degree in political science. After Kara graduated from college, she went on to work for Billboard magazine selling advertising.
Kara did have several early solo and band attempts, yet none of them reached commercial success. However, Kara’s talent as a songwriter did not go unnoticed. Kara has become one of the most sought after writers in the industry. So far DioGuardi has 39 albums in the Top 10 on Billboards Top 200 List. She has songs on over 100 million albums sold!

Personal Life:
Kara DioGuardi has been romantically link with Mike McCuddy who is a general contractor. DioGuardi also works with the Phoenix House which is a non-profit substance abuse service organization.
