Randy Jackson

Randy JacksonRandall Darius Jackson was born on June 23, 1956 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Known has Randy Jackson his mother Julia was a homemaker, and his father Herman Jackson was a plant foreman.

Randy started playing bass guitar when he was 13 years old. In 1986-87 Randy Jackson was involved with the band Journey. Randy was Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records for 8 years (A&R is someone who is responsible for talent scouting and helping with the artistic development of recording artists). Jackson went on to be Senior Vice President of A&R at MCA Records. He held this position for 4 years.

Randy Jackson has recorded, toured and performed with some of the biggest names in the music world. Such as, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Madonna, Elton John, Destiny’s Child, Aretha Franklin, Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, George Michael, Blue Oyster Cult, Richard Marx, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Michael Bolton, and Bob Dylan… Randy Jackson’s many years of experience with many different parts of the music industry has made him one of the most respected individuals in the music industry.

Randy Jackson is most famous in the public’s eyes for his judging on the American Idol show. However, Randy was famous in the music industry long before he first appeared on the show. It would be hard to go through anyones music CD collection and not find one CD which Randy Jackson in some way worked on.

Randy has his own radio show called ‘Randy Jackson’s Hit List’, which is broadcast on the Westwood One Radio Network.

Personal Life:
Randy Jackson has been married twice. His first wife Elizabeth Jackson, ended in divorce in 1990. They had one child named Taylor. Randy has been married to Erika Riker since 1995. They have two children, Zoe age 13 and a son Jordan age 11. Randy has suffered from several health issues. In 2003 Jackson lost over 100 pounds after he had a gastric bypass surgery. In February 2008, Randy Jackson appeared on a telvision commercial where he stated that he has Type 2 diabetes.

Randy Jackson lives in Los Angeles with his wife and 3 children.
