So, tonight the winner of American Idol Season 8 will be announced. Will it be Adam Lambert? The one thing we can be sure of is that Idol is going to drag out tonight’s show. Tonight’s show is going to be 2 hours long, and I am guessing about half of it will be commercials!! While it may be a big night for Adam Lambert and Kris Allen it is a bigger night for American Idol. This is when they really earn the big bucks in advertising!! The good news is we will get to see David Cook and the Black Eyed Peas, and of course we will find out who wins Season 8. Fingers crossed for Adam.

Last nights show did not disappoint, and it was argueably one of the best Idol Finals ever. We also got to see Carrie Underwood perform her new single ‘home sweet home’.

The final 2 Adam Lambert and Kris Allen each had to sing 3 songs. The 1st song was the contestants favorite song they performed from this season, the 2nd song was a choice by Simon Fuller and the 3rd song was ‘the winners song’ which was co-written by Kara DioGuardi. Kris won the coin toss and he decided that he wanted to go second which meant that Adam would perform first in each round.

ROUND 1: CONTESTANT’S CHOICE
Adam decided to sing Tears for Fears - Mad World again. This was a great choice, and it is certainly a favorite among Adam Lambert fans.

Adam Lambert - Mad World

Kris decided to sing Bill Withers - Ain’t No Sunshine
Kris Allen - Ain’t No Sunshine

ROUND 2: SIMON FULLER’S CHOICE
In Round 2 Fuller picked ‘Sam Cooke - A Change Is Gonna Come’ for Adam, and ‘Marvin Gaye - What’s Going On’ for Kris.

Adam Lambert - A Change is Gonna Come.

Kris Allen - What’s Going On

ROUND 3: ‘THE WINNER’S SONG’ - ‘NO BOUNDARIES’ - KARA DIOGUARDI
Both contestants had to sing this song. Unfortunately this has become somewhat of a tradition with American Idol, both contestants have to sing the same song which is supposed to be the big coronation song. The song is always pretty weak and it really shouldn’t be the last song performed during a season. It is always a bit of a let-down.

Adam Lambert - No Boundaries

Kris Allen - No Boundaries

Regardless of whether Adam wins or doesn’t win tonight I think that Paula Abdul said the most intelligent thing she has ever said on American Idol. She told Adam, “What ever happens with this Idol journey; I know with every fiber of my being that you are going to be iconic”.

All the judges loved Adam Lambert tonight but I really hope you were listening to Simon when he said… DO NOT JUST ASSUME ADAM IS IN THE FINAL… You have to VOTE!

The Top 3 remaining Idol contestants sang 2 song each last night. Adam sang U2 - One and Aerosmith - Cryin’

Adam was just awesome again. He took a U2 song and completely turned it into his own. That is simply not something anybody can do. His version of “One” was completely and uniquely his own. I’m a big U2 fan so I was really surprised and pleased with what he dod with one of Bono’s masterpieces.

U2 - One

And then, as if to really make a point, he took on Aerosmith’s “Cryin”. I don’t know how many people I’ve seen self-destruct on Idol by trying to sing a Steven Tyler song… Adam made it look easy.

Aerosmith - Cryin’

When you think about it, Idol really doesn’t have that great a record for producing real stars. Well all that is changing this year. Adam IS a STAR…. He will be a STAR for a long time. I can not wait for the release of his first CD… and I can’t wait to see him live in concert. You just know he is going put on an unbelievable show.

Adam ruled again last night as the results came in. Although they did it in random order, there can’t be anybody on the planet who thinks that Kris or Danny had more votes than Adam. The one sad note might be that Allison had to go home. I’m a huge Adam fan, but I liked Allison and really enjoyed watching her much more than either of the other two guys.

Let’s just remember though that last week, Adam was in the bottom. Adam’s fans have got to unite and vote like crazy over these last weeks. Don’t assume that everybody else’s vote will be enough… Adam needs YOUR vote. I don’t want to be mean, but just about the worst thing I can imagine is seeing Danny Gokey somehow win Idol after we had Adam in front for so long.

We’ve got a “Whole Lotta Love” for Adam. He has been consistently the best week after week, and then last night he tore the house down… what a performance!!!

The Top 4 remaining contestants on Season 8’s American Idol performed last night. Lambert was awesome singing Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love

Check it out:

I can’t think of any other Idol contestant who has been so dominant week after week. Obviously Adam will record an album… obviously it will sell well… and obviously he deserves to be the winner this year. Last night Kara said ” “You’re more than a rock star, you’re a rock god!”, and Paula added “I say, you’re a whole lot of perfect”… but Simon said it best…

After Adam performed first on the show, Simon called him the winner of the night without even hearing anything from the other competitors, and we all know Simon can be a tough critic.

All Adam Lambert Nation… let’s keep dialing and voting so there is no mistake about who this year’s Idol should be.

Adam in the bottom two? Danny Gokey is safe??

The only explanation, I’ve got for this is that Adam’s fans became a little too comfortable with just how good Adam really is, and then they forgot to vote. Remember, at the end of the day, this is all about the voting results, and if we don’t support Adam it is possible that someone else wins if they get their voters organized. That’s how Taylor Hicks ended up as “Idol” that year.

So here’s what I’m asking the Adam Lambert Nation… Next week, we bury the competition. Vote by text… vote on the phone… vote until your fingers fall off. Don’t take the chance of seeing Adam come close again, just because you figured it was so obvious that he was the best singer on American Idol.

OK… tell the truth. It looks like this. Matt goes home next and then Kris Allen and then Danny Gokey. I might have it backwards between Danny and Kris, but Adam OWNS this show. Vegas Night? He rules again.

Adam Lambert sang Michael Buble - Feeling Good for the Top 5 show. It was another rock solid performance.

Wouldn’t it just be more fun if they made one final change in the rules for this year? Just send everybody home, and use the time to allow Adam to continue to surprise and entertain us. I’m sure he would blow us away if they decided to have opera night.

As if you had any doubt, Adam knocked it out of the park, again. This guy is still leaps ahead of his competition for the overall performance factor. He’s the best singer. He has the most individual vocal style. And he just gets it. This week, once again, he made a disco song sound like something we’ve never heard before. “If I can’t Have You” as a ballad. You just know that Adam was the number one vote getter again this week.

But here’s a reminder… Don’t get too comfortable. If you stop voting for Adam just because he’s clearly the best, then there’s always the chance that someone could sneak by him with an organized campaign. Vote EVERY week.

On American Idol last night the theme was disco night. Adam Lambert sang ‘If I Can’t Have You’ by ‘The Bee Gees’. He truly changed the feel of this classic Disco era song, and he ended giving a great performance.

The Top 7 on American Idol competed again last night after Matt Giraud was saved last week by the judges. Since Matt Giraud was saved that means that 2 people will be voted off the show tonight. I think we can safely assume that Adam Lambert will not be one of them after another solid performance last night.

Tomorrow night David Archuleta will be on the American Idol results show.

Here is what the other contestants sang:

Lil Rounds
Chaka Khan - I’m Every Woman

Kris Allen
Donna Summer - She Works Hard For The Money

Danny Gokey
Earth, Wind And Fire - September

Allison Iraheta
Donna Summer - Hot Stuff

Matt Giraud
The Bee Gees - Staying Alive

Anoop Desai
Donna Summer - Dim All The Lights

Last night’s theme was Music from the Movies. The remaining Top 7 American Idol contestants had to pick a song that has appeared on a Movie soundtrack. Adam Lambert sang Steppenwolf - Born To Be Wild. It was a great performance, and a bold song choice. Born to be Wild is one of the most famous rock songs of all time, but Lambert pulled it off with his incredible vocal range.

Since this weeks theme was ‘Movie Week’ the special guest was Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino is the famous director from Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs and the Kill Bill movies. Tarantino is an odd choice considering his lack of a musical background.

Adam Lambert performance was as solid as ever. He is a true entertainer who has no fear in regards to trying new things. Last night he was dancing and flying around the stage like a true rockstar.

There was a slight change this week. Only two judges gave comments because of the disaster which took place last week where they ran 8 minutes too long.

Judges Comments:

Paula Abdul“Adam take it all in my dear. The reason Adam that you’re shaking up this whole competition is that you care to dance in the path of greatness. You do. And I’m gonna tell you a fortune rewards the brave, and you are one of the bravest contestants I’ve ever witnessed. Ever! I think you are fantastic!”

Simon Cowell “Adam, I think you’ve got to learn how to express yourself more. I think vocally incredible. Downside of that performance for me it was a little bit like watching the rocky horror picture show in parts. It is one of the biggest rock songs of all time so there’s going to be a huge percentage of the population that love that. There’s also going to be another side will absolutely despise it. I don’t think that performance will be as popular as you’re one last week. Just my opinion.”

Tomorrow night Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus will be on the American Idol results show.

Here is what the other contestants sang:

Allison Iraheta
Aerosmith - I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing

Anoop Desai
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do

Matt Giraud
Bryan Adams - To Really Love a Woman

Danny Gokey
Lionel Richie and Diana Ross - Endless Love

Kris Allen
The Frames - Falling Slowly

Lil Rounds
Amanda McBroom - Bette Midler - The Rose
